‘Dabangg’ tops AXN Action Awards

The film bagged the awards in all categories, crushing Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi’s chances

The AXN Action Awards winners were declared earlier this week and there were really no surprises. Salman Khan’s Dabangg won in every category it was nominated for – which, incidentally, were all the categories there are. So, Vijayan beat Abhishek Bachchan’s Raavan and walked away with the Best Action Sequence Award, promising to be back next year and take it again for his next Salman starrer, Bodyguard. Next up was Sonu Sood, who was adjudged the Best Action Hero in a Negative Role. We just hope when he returns as Chhedi Singh’s brother in Dabangg 2, he will just be as scary. Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap proudly took home the trophy for Best Action Director. However, unlike Vijayan and Sonu, Abhinav’s chances of winning again another year seem slim, as he is not directing Dabangg 2, last heard of. He has passed on the baton to Arbaaz Khan who, as the film’s producer, accepted the Best Action Film Award for Dabangg and the Best Action Hero Award on behalf of brother Salman. Salman beat Vivek Oberoi, who had been nominated for his performance in Rakht Charitra, to win the award. Vivek, Abhishek take heart. There’s always next year
