What is Vishal Bhardwaj’s Ajay-Anushka film all about?
While the Saat Khoon Maaf director says it’s a social satire, the producer claims it is a rom-com. We want to know which!
This morning a news report confirmed that Ajay Devgn and Anushka Sharma have been signed on by Vishal Bhardwaj for a film to be produced by the actor and his close associate Kumar Mangat. The Saat Khoon Maaf director stated that the film will be a social satire – a comedy with dark undertones. Is this the same film that Mangat spoke of a few weeks ago? The producer had said that he is co-producing a rom-com film with the Singham actor, to be directed by Bhardwaj. So are they speaking of the same project? If yes, then there is some serious misinterpretation of ideas between the producer and the Omkara director, or maybe a glitch in the understanding of genres. This reminds us of the famous dialogue from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: ‘Bade bade deshon mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain‘. And this is Bollywood, my dear, a bada desh where miscommunication is the norm. Anyway, whatever it turns out to be, for a performer like Ajay – who excels in drama as well as comedy – this will not be a tough one. But it will be the first of sorts for Anushka, who till date has portrayed frothy and bubbly characters onscreen. With a filmmaker like Vishal, popular for getting substance out of an actor, whatever that substance may be, this one will be a film to look forward to.
